New England has many challenging building sites, and this one in northern Massachusetts was no exception. A couple with three daughters had an eight-acre lot with a tight allowable space for construction, as well as wetlands to be protected. Furthermore, the budget-minded family wished to "build big" now and add upgrades down the line. We focused on:
low-maintenance exterior using materials with a 50+ year lifespan
air-sealing the exterior envelope and chose Pella windows and doors with their lifetime guarantee to ensure low heating and cooling bills
custom Platt Cabinetry in the kitchen and primary bath and utilized semi-custom cabinetry in other areas
We've been back twice in the decade since we built this home for other enhancements including a home theater in the basement and a custom wet bar/pantry off the kitchen.
