More Than Mud
MUDROOM REMODELING IN HARVARD, MA
This Harvard mudroom started with a straightforward problem: a busy household needed a space that could handle the daily in-and-out without constantly looking like it lost the battle. The answer was storage designed specifically around the people using it. Each family member has their own dedicated section for coats, bags, and gear, which sounds simple but makes a genuine difference in how the room functions from one day to the next.
The built-in bench gives everyone a proper place to sit down and deal with shoes, and dedicated storage means footwear doesn't end up scattered across the floor. Platt Cabinetry, our in-house millwork team, handled the built-ins throughout.
The craftsmanship shows in the details. Crown molding along the top of the cabinetry gives the room a furniture-quality finish that most mudrooms never come close to, while shiplap detailing adds warmth and texture without pulling the space away from its clean, neutral palette. The result feels less like a utility room and more like a room that was actually designed.
Across Harvard and the surrounding MetroWest communities, homeowners with growing or active families often find that the mudroom gets the most daily use and the least design attention. This project is a good example of what changes when that gets corrected.
Platt Builders completes custom mudroom projects throughout Harvard and the surrounding MetroWest communities. If your entryway isn't keeping up, we'd love to hear about it.
