Perfectly Laundered
LAUNDRY ROOM REMODELING IN CARLISLE, MA
Designed in collaboration with Kathy Boudreau, this Carlisle laundry room started as a windowless storage closet and ended up as one of the more considered rooms in the house. Getting there required creative problem solving: an existing dormer was extended, and a closet that previously housed the furnace was absorbed into the new layout after the furnace was relocated to a newly finished attic. The result is a room with natural light, views of the property, and enough space to actually function well.
Platt Cabinetry, our in-house millwork team, built custom cabinetry throughout, giving the room ample storage and a finished quality that carries through to every detail. A farmhouse sink anchors the room practically and aesthetically, and a subway tile backsplash adds texture and a clean, classic pattern behind it. Counter space for folding runs through the layout, turning what was previously an afterthought of a room into one with a proper work surface and enough room to move around in.
Older homes throughout Carlisle and the surrounding Middlesex County communities often have spaces that were never properly finished, rooms that got repurposed over time and ended up serving no function particularly well. The laundry room is one of the most common examples. What this project demonstrates is that the constraints of an existing layout are rarely as fixed as they appear. With the right design partner and a willingness to solve the structural problem first, the room that results can be one of the best in the house.
Platt Builders works with homeowners throughout Carlisle and surrounding Middlesex County communities including Concord, Acton, Chelmsford, and Bedford on custom laundry room projects. If you have a space that has been underperforming for years, let's talk.
