EXPANDED FOR TODAY

Partnered project with Spacecraft Architects

This stately Federalist-style Belmont home was built in 1923 without the obvious amenities families need today. With no primary suite and small, but updated kitchen, this entertaining family engaged Sally Degan at Spacecraft to find a solution that expanded the home yet kept its elegant features. The clients had updated their kitchen twelve years earlier and their beloved custom cabinetry was in good enough shape to re-use. Their cabinetry company matched the existing cabinetry with new ones as the space nearly doubled in size. Upstairs, the new primary suite was filled with custom Platt Cabinetry that includes roll outs, pullouts, and in-cabinet lighting for the clients’ clothing, plus a writing desk and built-in chests of drawers. The bathroom vanity provides extensive storage as well as integrated lighting. From the exterior, the new wing looks like it has always been there.
