LAUNDRY ROOM REMODELING IN SUDBURY, MA
Designed in collaboration with KT2 Design Group, this Sudbury laundry room came to be as a result of a first floor mudroom expansion. Relocating the laundry to the second floor put it closer to where laundry actually originates, but it introduced a new challenge: the fully interior room had no natural light and felt dark and dreary. A Suntube was installed to solve that, pulling natural light into a space that had no exterior wall to work with.
Platt Cabinetry, our in-house millwork team, built custom cabinetry throughout, providing expansive storage for cleaning and crafting materials and topped with marble countertops that give the room a luxurious quality. The storage details reflect a design process where the specifics of how the room gets used were worked through carefully before anything was built. Towel drawers were designed with ventilation to allow airflow, roll out drying racks tuck away when not in use, and a decorative panel above the dual washing machines allows the machines to vent properly without exposing mechanical details.
Fun wallpaper brings personality to a room that could have easily stayed purely utilitarian, tying the whole space together in a way that makes it genuinely enjoyable to spend time in.
Homeowners throughout Sudbury and the broader MetroWest area increasingly bring design partners to the table on projects like this, and the results tend to reflect that investment. When the functional and aesthetic decisions are worked through together from the start, rooms that run in the background of daily life end up feeling as considered as the ones that don't.
Platt Builders works with homeowners throughout Sudbury and surrounding MetroWest communities including Wayland, Concord, Marlborough, and Framingham on custom laundry room projects. If your laundry room is overdue for a proper upgrade, get in touch.
