Anti-Aging in an Antique

BATHROOM REMODELING IN CONCORD, MA

Designed in collaboration with Spacecraft Architects and Lewis Interiors Boston, this primary bathroom renovation in Concord started with an unusual decision: removing a fireplace. The original bathroom in this antique home featured a working fireplace, a charming detail that came at the cost of significant square footage. Repurposing that space opened up the layout in a way that changed what the bathroom could accomplish entirely.

With the fireplace footprint absorbed into the new design, the room gained a custom double vanity crafted by Platt Cabinetry, a larger shower, and a soaking tub. The layout now functions as a properly sized shared bathroom with the kind of space a primary suite in an antique home of this scale warrants. Lewis Interiors Boston brought the finish selections together, with luxurious materials and details that give the room a spa quality carrying through every surface.

Renovating a historic home in Concord or across the surrounding Middlesex County communities presents a specific set of constraints. The architecture has character worth preserving, but the original rooms were built around standards of comfort that no longer hold up. Getting that balance right requires architectural changes, interior design, and custom cabinetry to be worked through together from the start rather than handed off sequentially. The finished bathroom holds its own alongside the history of the home while delivering a standard of comfort the original room never could.

Platt Builders works with homeowners throughout Concord and surrounding Middlesex County communities including Lexington, Carlisle, Lincoln, and Acton on custom bathroom remodeling projects. If your bathroom is ready for a proper update, we'd love to talk.
